LCSC's Dillon WilliamsLEWISTON, Idaho – The Lewis-Clark State College women’s golf team finished second and the men’s team third on the second and final day of the Frontier Conference regular season tournament held at the Lewiston Country Club on Tuesday.

The No. 20-ranked Warrior women had a team score of 323 on the afternoon and finished with a 54-hole total of 953. Westminster, ranked No. 17, shot a 311 and finished at 938 to claim first.

With the victory the Griffins clinch the Frontier Conference regular season title, which is based on the combined scores of the three conference tournaments. LCSC finishes second in the conference standings, and Rocky Mountain is third.

“It was a beautiful day and our girls played well, but they ran into a real strong Westminster team,” said LCSC head golf coach Paul Thompson. “We were within three strokes at the start of the day, but I think they (the Warriors) were a little tired.”

One Warrior who didn’t show signs of tiring was sophomore Heather Bruce who had a 74 on Tuesday to finish second overall with a score of 226. Westminster’s Jenteal Jackson shot a 70 on the final round to finish at 221 and claim medalist honors.

The No. 18-ranked Warrior men continued to struggle and shot a 308 on Tuesday to finish at 913. They were outpaced by Westminster and Rocky Mountain which both ended up at 899 to tie for first. Westminster shot a 304 on Tuesday, while Rocky Mountain had a 300.

Dillon Williams (photo above) shot a 75 and led the Warriors with a 224 which tied him for fifth overall. Westminster’s Dane Jensen took home medalist honors with a 215 and a 75 in the final round.

Tuesday’s results clinch the regular season title for Rocky Mountain. LCSC finishes second in the conference standings, Carroll is third, and Westminster fourth.

Up next is the Frontier Conference Championship on April 23-24 in Missoula, Mont. The event will feature a seeded bracket and team vs. team play. The champion from both the men’s and women’s tournament will receive an automatic bids to the national tournaments.
