LCSC is well represented in Frontier postseason golf honors
The Lewis-Clark State College golf teams had five athletes listed on the Frontier Conference’s all-league teams and five on the academic all-league teams announced on Wednesday.
For the women’s all-league team, sophomores Heather Bruce and Idah Whisenant received first team honors, while sophomore Brooke Dagner was listed on the second team.
On the men’s side, sophomore Drew Reinland made the first team, and senior Tyler Johnson the second team.
The all-conference teams are determined by the results of the league’s three regular season tournaments. The top five golfers receive first team honors, and the second five receive second team honors.
The top women's awards were swept by Westminster College as senior Jenteal Jackson was named Player of the Year for the second straight season, Mari Hutsi was tabbed as the Freshman of the Year, and Chris Hendrickson was Coach of the Year.
Westminster freshman Dane Jensen was named Player of the Year on the men’s side, while Daniel Thompsett of Rocky Mountain College claimed Freshman of the Year honors, and Rocky Mountain’s Randy Northrup was named Coach of the Year.
Regarding academic all-league honors, LCSC placed Dagner, Whisenant, Kelsey Haycock, and Shanna Herman on the women’s team, and Johnson was honored on the men’s side.
To be eligible for the academic team, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore in standing, maintain a 3.0 GPA, and be enrolled at the school the previous two semesters.
