LCSC men’s tennis team
defeats Lindenwood 6-3

MOBILE, Ala. – Rolling
in both singles and
doubles play, the
Lewis-Clark State
College men’s tennis
team opened the 57th
annual NAIA Men’s Tennis
National Championships
with a 6-3 win over
Lindenwood at the Mobile
Tennis Center on Monday
afternoon.
LCSC, now 13-10 overall,
earned the right to face
No. 1-ranked and
two-time defending
national champion Auburn
Montgomery in the second
round on Tuesday. Auburn
Montgomery received a
first-round bye. The
match is scheduled to
start at 11 a.m.,
Pacific time.
In Monday’s match
against the Missouri
school, the Warriors won
two of three doubles
matches and then won
four of six singles
matches, including two
in the final set.
Jonatan Berhane and
Oliver Stone were double
winners for the
Warriors. Berhane teamed
up with Cedric Dufour
for an 8-5 doubles win,
and then won his No. 5
singles match 6-3, 6-5.
Stone lost his first
singles set, but bounced
back to win 6-7, 6-1,
6-2, and then combined
with Sebastian Kuhn to
win 8-4 in doubles.
Kevin Lee also picked up
a key win in three games
in singles play, winning
4-6, 6-4, 6-4.
Arslan
Mermut picked up LCSC’s
other win with a 6-3,
6-2 triumph in singles
play.
