Winning four of six singles matches and sweeping doubles play, Eastern Washington University ruined the season opener for the Lewis-Clark State College women's tennis team with a 5-2 win at the LCSC Tennis Center on Saturday.
The Warriors did pick up victories from Shefat Baishakhi and Megan Smedley in singles play. Baishakhi, playing at No. 2 singles, scored a 6-3, 7-5 win over Rachel Berger, while Smedley, at No. 5 singles, defeated Judy Leining 6-4, 6-3.
The Warriors, who face 10 NCAA Division I opponents this season, continue action on Sunday with a pair of home matches. LCSC faces both the University of Idaho and Air Force at the LCSC Tennis Center.
