The Lewis-Clark State College women’s tennis team continued its solid play over the weekend by sweeping College of Idaho and Southern Oregon University by identical 9-0 scores at the LCSC Tennis Center.
The Warriors, 8-8 overall, are ranked No. 20 in the NAIA poll and continued their domination over NAIA tennis programs in Region I. The Warriors started the weekend by dumping the University of Alberta 8-1.
All four women’s tennis teams in Region I participated in three days of round-robin play at the Tennis Center. The four teams are unaffiliated and are combined together to form a regional unaffiliated group in the NAIA. According to the NAIA National Tournament qualifying plans, the champion of that unaffiliated group will received an automatic berth to the tournament as long as that team is ranked in the NAIA Top 25 poll. Currently, LCSC is the only one of the four teams ranked, and with the three victories, its doubtful any of the other three will pass the Warriors in future Top 25 polls.
LCSC won every match in straight sets against College of Idaho and Southern Oregon.
