KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Lewis-Clark State College women’s tennis team is ranked No. 14 while the men’s team is at No. 21 in the NAIA Tennis Coaches’ Top 25 Preseason Polls, which were released on Tuesday.
The Warrior women, who were ranked No. 20 last season, received 179 points in the poll, just one point behind No. 13 Northwood University of Florida.
In the men’s poll, LCSC was also one point away from a tie as the Warriors had 129 points, just one behind No. 20 Lee University of Tennessee. The Warrior men were No. 21 last season.
The polls were voted upon by a panel of head coaches representing each of the conferences, independents and unaffiliated groupings. The first regular season Top 25 poll will be announced on Feb. 23.
Six-time defending national champion Auburn Montgomery (Ala.) is ranked No. 1 in the women’s poll, while Fresno Pacific (Calif.), which has finished as runner-up in four straight national championships, earned two first-place votes and is ranked second.
On the men’s side, defending national champion Fresno Pacific captured 341 points and 10 first-place votes to earn the No. 1 ranking, followed by Auburn Montgomery.
