The Lewis-Clark State College women’s tennis team is ranked No. 17 while the men’s team is ranked No. 23 in the second NAIA poll of the season, which was released Tuesday.
The polls were voted on by a panel of head coaches representing each of the conferences, independents and unaffiliated groupings.
The Warrior men fell two spots from the first poll, which came out two weeks ago. LCSC is 3-9 on the season, but most of the matches have been against NCAA Division I and II schools. In its only match during the past two weeks, the Warriors fell to Gonzaga 6-1. LCSC had 124 points in the poll and trials No. 22 Lee University by two points.
Fresno Pacific leads the men’s poll, while Auburn Montgomery is second.
The women’s team didn’t play in the past two weeks and fell one spot from the first poll. The Warriors, 2-5 overall, have 207 points and also trail Lee University, which has 213 points.
The top two spots in the women’s poll are inverted from the men’s poll because Auburn Montgomery is first and Fresno Pacific is second.
This Friday and Saturday the Warriors play host to College of Idaho and Montana State University-Billings on the men’s side before both the men’s and women’s teams head to California for their annual spring break trip. LCSC will play Point Loma next Monday (men are ranked No. 11 in the NAIA and women are ranked No. 4), Westmont on Tuesday (men are No. 8, women are No. 14), Azusa Pacific on Thursday (men are No. 5 and women are No. 6) and Vanguard on Friday (men are No. 6 and women are No. 9).
