COSTA MESA, Calif. – The Lewis-Clark State College tennis teams contended with but fell to the high ranked teams of Vanguard University on Friday.
The LCSC men were defeated by Vanguard, ranked No. 6 in the NAIA, 7-2. Cesar Uauy, playing at No. 5, and No. 3 doubles combo Tyler Oram and Zhia Hwa Chong earned the Warriors’ only wins on the day. Uauy won his match 6-3, 6-3, while three other matches went three sets.
On the women’s side, No. 9 Vanguard topped the Warriors 7-2. Elaine Lee won the No. 5 singles match 5-7, 6-4, 7-5, and also partnered with Barbara Sneckner to win the No. 3 doubles match 8-1.
Friday’s contests mark the end of a tough road trip for the Warriors. The Warriors played four California schools during the road trip, all of which were ranked 15th or better.
