The Lewis-Clark State College men’s tennis team remained at No. 21, while the women’s team fell one notch to No. 16 in the NAIA Tennis Coaches Top 25 poll, which was released on Tuesday.
The Warriors men received 133 points in the poll to hold down the No. 21 spot heading into a critical week. The Warriors hit the road and face No. 18 Oklahoma Baptist on Thursday and then No. 7 Oklahoma Christian on Saturday. LCSC, 8-14 overall, must be ranked in the top 25 in the final poll in order to qualify for the national tournament. The final poll comes out May 4.
These are the final two matches of the regular season for the Warrior men.
LCSC’s women slipped one spot after Southern Nazarene moved from No. 17 to the No. 15 spot with 183 points. LCSC, 6-9 overall, has 181 points.
Like the men, the Warrior women need to be ranked in order to qualify for nationals. The Warrior women play three ranked opponents this week, starting with No. 13 Oklahoma Baptist on Thursday, then Southern Nazarene on Friday, and No. 8 Oklahoma Christian on Saturday.
The Warriors women have qualified for nationals 13 straight years and 16 overall, while the men have made the trip 10 straight years to nationals and 19 overall.
