SPOKANE, Wash. – The Lewis-Clark State College men’s tennis team challenged but fell to Gonzaga University on Friday evening.

The Warriors forced three of the sour singles matches they lost into a third set and also came close to pulling out two of the three doubles matches.

Junior Cesar Uauy won for the Warriors at No. 3 singles by a final score of 6-4, 5-7, 7-6, and freshman Nicolas Tweedie won 6-4, 6-3 at No. 6.

In doubles, Lincoln Gay and Uauy won 8-4 in the No. 3 match, while Anders Tischer and Ivan Krijanto were narrowly defeated 9-8 at No. 1.

Former Warrior Zhia Hwa Chong, who transferred to Gonzaga this year after two seasons with the Warriors, was the only singles player to win a match in two sets against LC, and he also earned the win for Gonzaga in the No. 1 doubles match.

The Warrior men are now at 1-2 overall this year, with their next match scheduled to be against Whitworth University at the LCSC Tennis Center on Feb. 5.
