The Lewis-Clark State College men’s tennis team remained at No. 16 while the Warrior women’s team dropped four spots from the preseason poll to No. 20 in the first regular-season edition of the NAIA Tennis Coaches’ Top 25 polls, which were released on Tuesday.
The Warrior men, 4-2 overall, drew 164 points in the poll as there were no changes among the top 17 teams from the preseason poll. LCSC is 10 points behind No. 15 St. Thomas and 18 points ahead of No. 17 Martin Methodist. Fresno Pacific drew nine of the 12 first-place votes to hold down the top spot while Auburn University-Montgomery drew the other three first-place votes and was second.
The women’s side also saw little movement as only two teams traded positions who were ranked ahead of LCSC in the preseason poll. However, the Warriors have played a number of NCAA teams this season and stand 3-5 overall. All five losses have been against NCAA Division I teams.
The Warriors are only two points behind William Carey in the poll.
The Warrior men are back in action this Friday and Saturday for three matches in Bozeman, Mont. On Friday, LCSC plays MSU-Billings and Seattle University, and then tangles with Montana State University of the Big Sky Conference on Saturday.
The LCSC women are off until playing Seattle University at home on March 11.
