The Lewis-Clark State College men’s tennis team climbed one spot to No. 15, while the women’s team fell one spot to No. 20 in this week’s NAIA Tennis Coaches’ Top 25 polls.
The Warrior men are 6-3 on the season and have won five of their last six matches, including a 5-2 win over Seattle University, a NCAA Division I team.
The LCSC women’s team is 3-5 on the season with all five losses coming against D-I teams. The Warrior women face two more D-I teams at home this weekend when they take on Seattle University at 1 p.m. on Friday and the University of Montana, also at 1 p.m., on Saturday at the LCSC Tennis Center.
The Warriors then hit the road for their annual spring break trip to California and will face some of the top NAIA schools in the country. Next Monday, LCSC faces Azusa Pacific, whose men are ranked No. 4 and women are No. 5. On Tuesday, LCSC plays at Point Loma Nazarene. PLN women are ranked No. 3 while the men are No. 6. On Thursday, LCSC takes on Vanguard, whose women are No. 7 and men are No. 13. LCSC ends the trip next Friday against Biola, whose men and women’s teams both received votes in the polls.
The polls were voted upon by a panel of head coaches representing each of the conferences/independents/unaffiliated groupings. The next Top 25 poll will be announced on March 22.
