SAN DIEGO – The Lewis-Clark State College women’s tennis team faced the No. 3 team and the men’s team faced the No. 5 team in the NAIA on Tuesday and both ended up with the same fate. The 19th-ranked Warrior women’s squad, and the 15th-ranked men lost by identical scores of 8-1 to Point Loma Nazarene University.
Senior Ciara Schultz, playing at No. 4, came up with LC’s lone point on the women’s side as she won her match 7-5, 7-5. Samantha Teigen nearly earned another point for the Warriors at No. 5, but fell 6-2, 5-7, 10-4.
On the men’s side, freshman Viktor Svoboda won the No. 5 match 6-2, 4-6, 6-4. Ivan Krijanto, playing at No. 2, also forced his match to three sets, but was defeated 1-6, 6-2, 6-2.
The LCSC women are now 3-9 on the season and the men are 6-5. Point Loma’s women’s team remains undefeated at 8-0, while its men improve to 8-1.
The Warrior tennis teams will continue their spring break California road trip with a visit to Costa Mesa on Thursday to face Vanguard University and then a stop at La Mirada on Friday to play Biola University.
