LC men's tennis is ranked No. 15; women are No. 19
3/22/2011

The Lewis-Clark State College men’s tennis team climbed one spot to No. 15 while the Warrior women’s team remained at No. 19 in their respective NAIA Tennis Coaches’ Top 25 polls, the NAIA announced on Tuesday.

The Warrior men are 7-7 on the season and drew 122 points in the poll, just five points behind No. 14 Saint Thomas University.  Fresno Pacific was the unanimous pick at No. 1, while Embry-Riddle moved up to the second spot.

On the women’s side, the Warriors are 4-9 on the season, but all of the losses have been either to NCAA schools or top-ranked NAIA teams. LCSC drew 133 points in the poll, while Fresno-Pacific drew all 12 first-place votes for the top spot.

Both Warrior teams are coming off 1-4 road trips to California where they lost to some of the top-ranked NAIA teams. The Warrior men fell to No. 4 Azusa Pacific, No. 6 Point Loma Nazarene, No. 9 Concordia, and No. 12 Vanguard, while the women lost to No. 3 Point Loma Nazarene, No. 5 Azusa Pacific, No. 8 Concordia, and No. 10 Vanguard.

Both Warrior teams are off until next weekend when the men play Whitworth on April 2 at 11 a.m. and the women play Gonzaga on April 3 at noon. Both matches are in Spokane.
