OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. - The Lewis-Clark State College men's tennis team moved into the championship match of the NAIA Men's Regional Tournament , but the Warrior women's team fell in the semifinals on Tuesday.

In the new NAIA national qualifier for the Warriors, teams that play tennis in the Midlands, Red River and Sooner Athletic conferences are combined with LCSC and a couple of other independents for the tournament with an automatic berth to nationals up for grabs.

The Warrior men, seeded second in the eight-team field, defeated Central Christian of Kansas 9-0 in the opening round and beat No. 3 seed Oklahoma Baptist 7-2 on Tuesday. LCSC will now play top seed Oklahoma Christian on Wednesday for the automatic berth to nationals.

LCSC is ranked No. 18 in this week's NAIA poll while Oklahoma Christian is No. 5. Oklahoma Christian defeated John Brown 9-0 and Our lady of the Lake 9-0 in the semifinals. In other first-round matches, Oklahoma Baptist defeated Oklahoma Wesleyan 7-2 and Our Lady of the Lake beat Southwest 5-4.

On the women's side, the Warriors defeated LSU-Shreveport 9-0 in the first round, but then fell to top seed Oklahoma Christian 8-1 in the semifinals. LCSC will now face Oklahoma Baptist for third place today. Oklahoma Baptist lost to Southern Nazarene 7-2.

In other first-round matches, Oklahoma Christian defeated John Brown; Oklahoma Baptist stopped Southwest and Southern Nazarene beat Our Lady of the Lake, all by idential 9-0 scores.

On the women's side, Oklahoma Christian is ranked fifth, Southern Nazarene is 12th, Oklahoma Baptist is 15th and LCSC is 21st.

The only chance for the LCSC women now to make nationals is through an at-large berth, thus putting an extra importance on today's match against higher ranked Oklahoma Baptist.
