Lewis-Clark State College women’s tennis player Dominika Jasova, a freshman from Kosice, Slovakia, is ranked as one of the top NAIA players in singles and doubles, according to the Intercollegiate Tennis Association rankings, which came out this past week.
Jasova is ranked No. 11 among all NAIA women’s tennis players in singles competition. Jasova went 11-10 with the Warriors in singles play this season, but won five of her last six matches, including a 6-3, 6-3 triumph over Oklahoma Baptist’s Paola Costa, who was ranked No. 8. Jasova also defeated five NCAA Division I players this season.
In doubles play, Jasova and Dorothy Chong, a sophomore from Kuching, Malaysia, are ranked No. 8. It’s the first top 10 ranking by a Warrior doubles team since Pei Yuin Keng and Aibka Kalsarieva in 2004.
Jasvoa and Chong went 7-7 on the season, but defeated No. 8-ranked Hermon Brhane and Lucie Sipkova of Oklahoma Christian and No. 15 Casey Wetzig and Leah Hoffee of Azusa Pacific. The LCSC duo also went 2-4 against NCAA Division I competition this season.
The Warrior women wound up ranked No. 16 in the final NAIA poll.
