Jasova ranked in ITA/NAIA singles and doubles
Lewis-Clark State College freshman Dominkia Jasova finished in the top 12 in both singles and doubles in the final Intercollegiate Tennis Association’s NAIA rankings for the 2011 season.
Jasova, who is from Kosice, Slovakia, finished ranked No. 12 in the NAIA in singles play and No. 8 in doubles with partner Dorothy Chong, a sophomore from Kuching, Malaysia.
It was a solid year for Jasova, who was named the ITA/NAIA West Region Rookie of the Year and earned NAIA second-team All-America honors. She went 11-10 in singles play and 7-7 in doubles with Chong and nearly half of their matches came against NCAA Division I competition.
“Jasova is a very aggressive player who has much room for growth,” LCSC tennis coach Kai Fong said. “She capped the final match of her rookie season with a 6-1, 6-1 victory over the University of Idaho’s No. 1 player, Victoria Lozano, who had beaten Jasova in three sets earlier this season.”
LC will return four starters next season, and will add Livia Blasque, a NCAA transfer who played No. 1 singles and doubles for the University of Hartford, and former high school state doubles champion Bryn Oliveira from Bend, Ore.
Fong also announced LC has been accepted to participate in the WSU Cougar Classic on Sept. 23-25 after a eight-year hiatus from the D1 event.
