LCSC's Jasova and Chong earned ITA NAIA All America honors
Lewis-Clark State College tennis players Dominika Jasova and Dorothy Chong were among the 57 NAIA players to earn Intercollegiate Tennis Association All America honors for the 2011 season.
Jasova (left photo), a freshman from Kosice, Slovakia, earned honors for both singles and doubles play, while Chong (right photo), a sophomore from Kuching, Malaysia, earned the honor in doubles. Jasova and Chong were doubles partners for most of the year.
Jasova had a banner first season with the Warriors. She was earlier named the Intercollegiate Tennis Association’s NAIA West Region Rookie of the Year. She played at No. 1 singles for the Warriors and finished the season ranked 12th among all NAIA women’s tennis players. She went 11-10 in singles play this season, including victories in five of her last six matches. With LCSC’s schedule full of NCAA schools, she still managed to defeat five NCAA Division I players during the season.
Jasova also was solid in doubles play for the Warriors. Jasova and Chong are ranked No. 8. It’s the first top 10 ranking by a Warrior doubles team since Pei Yuin Keng and Aibka Kalsarieva in 2004.
Jasova and Chong went 7-7 on the season, but defeated No. 8-ranked Hermon Brhane and Lucie Sipkova of Oklahoma Christian and No. 15 Casey Wetzig and Leah Hoffee of Azusa Pacific. The LCSC duo also went 2-4 against NCAA Division I competition this season.
