Both of Lewis-Clark State College’s tennis teams were ranked in the NAIA preseason top 25 polls, which were announced by the national office on Tuesday. The Warrior women were ranked No. 16, while the men came in at No. 19.
The LCSC women’s team, which failed to make its 18th appearance at the national tournament last season due to a loss to No. 4-ranked Oklahoma Christian in the qualifying tournament, received 130 points in the poll.
The Warrior men’s team, which made its 21st appearance at nationals last year, garnered 103 points. Last season, the team fell to No. 13-ranked Lindsey Wilson 6-3 in the opening round.
The LCSC men open their season this weekend at home at the LCSC Tennis Center. The Warriors will face Seattle University at 11 a.m. on Friday, Whitworth University at 11 a.m. on Saturday, and the College of Idaho at 9 a.m. on Sunday.
The polls were voted upon by a panel of head coaches representing each of the conferences/independents/unaffiliated groupings. The next polls will be released on Feb. 21.
