COSTA MESA, Calif. – The No. 16-ranked Lewis-Clark State College women’s tennis team showed that it might be worthy of a higher rank in the NAIA by defeating No. 12-ranked Vanguard University on the road on Tuesday. The Warriors topped the Lions 7-2.
LCSC swept the doubles matches and then won four of the six singles contests.
After teaming with Dominika Jasova to earn a win at No. 1 doubles, Dorothy Chong won the No. 2 singles match 6-1, 6-1. Barb Sneckner, who partnered with Miranda Duggan to claim the No. 2 doubles match, won at No. 3 singles; Samantha Teigen won at No. 5; and Marina Wold picked up a win by default at No. 6.
The No. 19-ranked Warrior men had an opportunity for a major upset in playing against the No. 6-ranked Vanguard men, however, they fell 7-2 after winning just one match in doubles and one in singles.
Tyler Oram and Cesar Uauy picked up a win at No. 3 doubles, 8-5; and Sam Tozer lost only one game in claiming the No. 3 singles match.
Both LCSC tennis teams will continue their arduous California road trip by facing Colorado Mesa in Azusa on Wednesday.
