The Lewis-Clark State College women’s tennis team is No. 9 and the men’s team is No. 15 in the NAIA Tennis Coaches’ Top 25 polls, released by the national office on Tuesday.
The Warrior women fell two spots from their preseason ranking after opening the season at 2-2. Thus far, the team has defeated two NCAA Division III schools in Whitman and Whitworth, and has fallen to a pair of NCAA Division I foes in Seattle University and Eastern Washington.
After being unranked in the preseason poll, the LCSC men jump into the fray thanks to a 2-1 start. The Warriors knocked off Whitworth and Whitman and suffered their only defeat to Gonzaga.
The LCSC men are off this week, while the women’s team is hosting four matches at the LCSC Tennis Center. On Saturday, the Warriors will play Gonzaga at 2 p.m. and the University of Idaho at 6 p.m., and then on Sunday they’ll face the University of Portland at 9:30 a.m. and the College of Idaho at 2 p.m.
The second regular-season polls will be announced on March 5.
