LA MIRADA, Calif. – The Lewis-Clark State College tennis teams ended their arduous road trip on a high note on Saturday afternoon. The Warriors women, ranked No. 10 in the latest NAIA poll, swept Biola 9-0, and the No. 12 men’s team defeated Biola 8-1.
Saturday’s matches end a weeklong, five-match stay in California for the Warrior squads. The Warrior women went 5-0 on the trip to improve to 8-7 on the year, while the Warrior men were 2-3 and are now 7-4.
In the women’s match, the Warriors dominated doubles play, losing just three games total, and then made a clean sweep of each set in singles. Florencia Martina was particularly dominant as she swept the No. 5 match 6-0, 6-0. The tightest match was at No. 6 singles where Netti Dayhuff hung on to win 6-3, 7-5.
LCSC’s performance on the men’s side was nearly as impressive. The Warriors only loss came at No. 1 doubles by a score of 8-5. The team then went on to take each singles contest in straight sets. Anders Tischer won a competitive No. 1 singles match 7-6, 6-3.
The men’s next match will be at home on Friday against Portland State, while the women will host Texas State on Saturday. Both matches will be inside the LCSC Tennis Center.
