women’s track signs top
javelin thrower
05-07-08
Ali Super, who had one of
the nation’s top javelin
throws last year as a junior
in high school, has signed a
letter-of-intent to compete
for the Lewis-Clark State
College women’s track team
next season, Warrior coach
Mike Collins has announced.
Super, who is a senior at
West Linn High School in
Portland, Ore., is the No.
2-ranked high school javelin
thrower in Oregon. Last
year, she had the 12th best
throw in the nation for high
school students. She had
surgery on her throwing
shoulder last summer, but
despite being slowed by the
surgery during her senior
season, Collins said she is
steadily getting back to her
old form. Her best throw
this season would rank No. 7
in the NAIA and almost 15
feet beyond the NAIA
national meet qualifying
standard.
“So you can see why we are
pretty excited about this
young lady,” Collins said.
“We have been looking for
women that will help to set
the standard as to what it
means to be a Warrior
thrower and Ali is going to
set the bar pretty high.”
