SALEM, Ore. –
Melissa Neuman finished
seventh in the javelin
and Kylie Astle placed
ninth in the 1,500 to
highlight the outdoor
season debut of the
Lewis-Clark State
College women’s track
team a the Willamette
Open on Friday.
This is the first year
LCSC has sponsored
women’s track and Friday
was the first outdoor
meet of the season.
Neuman, the only
non-runner currently on
the team, threw the
javelin 113-feet
11-inches to place
seventh.
Astle crossed the finish
line in 5 minutes and
.06 seconds in the
1,500, while Emily
Perkins was 14th
in 5:15.63.
Jessie Gulsvig was 20th
in the 5,000 in
20:18.38.
Members of the LCSC
men’s cross country team
also took part in the
meet, along with
shot-putter Nathan
Uhlorn, who finished
second in 44-07.
Osma Idirse and
Aaron Galbraith, were
fifth and sixth,
respectively in the
5,000. Idrise was timed
in 15:25.49, while
Galbraith was right
behind in 15:25.97.
Hassan Khalif was eighth
in 15:30.28, Eric Tuwei was 17th
in 16:00.08, and Jeff Dukleth was 33rd
in 18:33.12.
Also, Calin Hantau was
17th in the
1,500 in 4:12.75.
