BOISE, Idaho – Lewis-Clark State College junior Lindsay Szybura finished fourth in the 3,000-meter women’s steeplechase at the Boise State University All-Idaho Collegiate Championships track and field meet at Bronco Stadium on Friday.
Szybura finished in a time of 11 minutes, 57.2 seconds at the meet, which involves all Idaho colleges except for the University of Idaho. Teammate Amanda Palmer finished 10th in 13:09.8.
Friday’s portion of the meet was actually cut short by a snowstorm. Because of the poor weather seven field events were moved to Saturday morning, while 10 preliminary heats were eliminated.
Only five events were completed on Friday. In the women’s hammer throw, LCSC’s Kirsten Smith took seventh with a toss of 36.74 meters, while Melissa Neuman was eight in 35.8 meters.
In the women’s 1,500 run, LCSC freshman Kelsey Klettke was ninth in 5:07.18, while teammate Kyli Astle was 12th in 5:12.76. Also for LCSC, Madison Randall (14th) finished in 5:18.88, Rachel Park (17th) came in at 5:28.41, Casey Hampton (18th) was time in 5:29.18, Sheree Barbour (19th) crossed in 5:30.39, and Whitlee Young (21st) was timed at 5:38.38.
In the men’s 1,500, Jon Dalton topped the LCSC runners by finishing 12th in 4:27.14, while Jake Miller was 17th at 4:37.94. Scott Sweet was 20th in 4:42.91.
Saturday’s action is set to begin at 9 a.m., Pacific time, with the men’s hammer throw and women’s shot put. Track events will start at 1:30 p.m. with the men and women’s 4x100-meter relays. The meet is scheduled to conclude at approximately 4:50 p.m. with the men and women’s 1,600 relays. All sprint events that were originally scheduled with preliminary heats will now only be timed finals.
