Super, Szybura claim titles at Pelluer Invite
CHENEY, Wash. – First-place finishes by Ali Super and Lindsay Szybura were highlights as the Lewis-Clark State College track and field team posted several solid performances at the 38th annual Pelluer Invitational Friday at Woodward Field on the campus of Eastern Washington University.
Eight regional colleges competed including Eastern Washington, Gonzaga, Seattle University, and Idaho.
Super, a freshman from Portland, Ore., threw 151-10 to finish well ahead of her competition which posted a second-place mark of 145-04.
In the steeplechase, Szybura earned first with a time of 11:33.03. She was followed by teammate Kyli Astle who finished second with a mark of 11:57.44.
Kirsten Smith also had a strong day as she claimed fourth in the discus and sixth in the shot put with marks of 127-05 and 38-10.25, respectively.
In the 800 meter, LCSC had four runners finish in the top 10 including a third-place finish by Kelsey Klettke. Klettke ran the course in 2:22.34.
Sean Huey and Eric Tuwei led LCSC on the men’s side. Huey finished first in the 10,000 with a time of 32:44.76, and Tuwei ran the 5,000 in 16:12.12 to earn ninth.
