MOSCOW, Idaho – Melissa Neuman broke an Lewis-Clark State College track and field record during day one of the two-day 2009 Vandal Jamboree on Friday.

Neuman, a senior from Spokane, Wash., established a school record and reached a personal-best with a hammer throw of 144-8 (44.11m). Neuman’s throw was good enough for ninth, while teammate Alicia Blum totaled 128-0 (39.02) to finish 12th.

Also on Friday, LCSC’s Kelsey Klettke competed in the Ken Foreman-Ken Shannon Invite at the University of Washington and set a school record in the 1,500. She claimed 10th with a time of 4:50.49. Klettke, a freshman from Vancouver, Wash., was the only Warrior to compete at the University of Washington and plans to join LCSC in Moscow on Saturday.

The remainder of the Vandal Jamboree will take place on Saturday at the Dan O’Brien Track & Field Complex, starting with the javelin at 10:30 a.m.
