PULLMAN, Wash. – Lewis-Clark State College’s Jake Meyer set a school record in the weight throw in his first time competing in the event during the opening day on Friday of the eighth annual Washington State University Open Indoor Meet.
Meyer threw 39-feet, 6-inches to help the Warriors open the indoor track season.
Kristen Smith, who is redshirting this season at LCSC, finished seventh in the women’s open weight throw with a toss of 41-11.5. That throw broke her personal indoor best by almost four feet.
“Coach (Arlen) Olson is doing a great job with the throwers,” LCSC track coach Mike Collins said.
The Warriors will have some more throwers and a couple of runners compete on Saturday when the meet concludes.
