PULLMAN, Wash. – Chelsey Leighton highlighted another strong day for the Lewis-Clark State College track teams at the eighth annual Washington State University Open Indoor Meet on Saturday.
Leighton, a freshman from Lapwai, Idaho, set the school in the 400 meters and nearly set a new mark in the 200. She completed the 400 in a time of 1:03.12, and the 200 in 28.58.
LCSC had six athletes compete in running events and three compete in throwing events.
Shaelie Edwards ran the 1 mile in 5:47.58, and Amy Watkins put up a time of 12:11.00 in the 3,000. Also on the women’s side, Myriah Deeds threw 33-05.75 in the shot put.
For the men, Tanner Smedley ran the 800 in 2:04.77, and Fernando Esparanza and Josh Shrewsbury finished the 3,000 with times of 9:06.97 and 9:09.97, respectively. Nathan Uhlorn threw 43-01.00 in the shot put, and Jake Meyer had a 39-06.00 in the open weight throw.
The Warriors will compete next at the Boise State University Invite in Nampa, Idaho, on Jan. 29-30.
