Pendleton's Stewart signs to throw for LCSC track team
Kayla Stewart, a senior at Pendleton High School, signed a letter-of-intent to compete for the Lewis-Clark State College women’s track team next season, Warrior coach Mike Collins has announced.
Stewart is currently ranked fifth in the state of Oregon in the javelin and has a personal best throw of 140-11 this season. She placed seven in the Oregon Class 5A meet as a sophomore and also placed fifth in the Pasco Invitational earlier this month.
Stewart also played volleyball at Pendleton High. She earned three letters in volleyball and was a first-team all-league selection as a junior and a second-team selection as a senior. She also earned honorable mention honors as a sophomore and earned multiple all-tournament team honors during her career. Her team qualified for the state playoffs all three seasons.
Stewart also is a member of the Honor Society and has a 3.71 GPA, which ranks her 40th in her class.
