PULLMAN, Wash. – A handful of Lewis-Clark State College track and field athletes competed at the ninth annual WSU Open Indoor meet on Friday and Saturday.
Jake Meyer and Kirsten Smith both had strong showings for the Warriors in throwing competitions. Meyer, a junior from Grangeville, Idaho, placed fifth in the weight throw with a school-record and personal-best toss of 44-11.75. Meanwhile, Smith finished fifth in the weight throw on the women’s side with a distance of 48-04.5.
Two Warrior runners also competed at the meet. Running the mile, Nick Pierson claimed 19th with a time of 4:49.67, while Tommy Bollinger ran the course in 5:07.48 to finish 31st.
The LCSC track teams will compete next at the Boise State Open in Nampa, Idaho, on Jan. 29. On Saturday, Jan. 22, the Warriors will hold their annual Freeze Your Fanny 5K fundraiser.
