Four members of the Lewis-Clark State College men’s track and field squad and two from the women’s teams have been named Daktronics NAIA Scholar-Athletes, the NAIA announced on Friday.
In order to qualify, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved a junior academic status.
For the Warrior men, senior distance runners Michael Testa of Ansieres, France, Fernando Esperanza of Huesca, Spain, and junior Dave Marks of Lake Oswego, Ore., joined senior thrower Jake Meyer of Grangeville on the honor list. Marks is only a sophomore eligibility-wise, while Meyer is a junior. Esperanza and Marks are both Sports Administration majors, while Testa is majoring in Political Science.
On the women’s side, senior Casey Hampton joins junior Kelsey Klettke on the Datronics list. Hampton is from Bonners Ferry while Klettke is from Vancouver, Wash. Both are distance runners majoring in Kinesiology.
