JUNIOR:
The Warriors’ top
finisher at NAIA Nationals, placing 48th
overall and 38th among scoring runners as
the team finished 11th overall…Was third at
the Frontier Conference Championships and
the LCSC Invite.
SOPHOMORE:
Had a
solid season topped by being the third
finisher for the Warriors at the national
meet...Was among the top six finishers all
year and placed second on the team among the
returners in two meets, the Eric Anderson
Invite and the Willamette Invite…Ran a
season-best time of 18:56 in the Warrior
Invitational, which placed her 12th
overall…Was seventh on the team and 12th
overall at the Frontier Conference
meet...Finished in the top 40 in every meet
but two...Was 119th at the national meet.
FRESHMAN:
Finished
among the top-eight LC runners in every
race…Achieved best time and overall finish
at the LCSC Invite, placing 14th and
recording a time of 19:17.6…Broke school
record in the indoor 400m, finishing in
1:02.46…Recorded a season-best indoor 200m
time of 28.12…in outdoor track set school
record in 200m (28.11), 400m (1:03.20) and
4x400m relay (4:18.14).
HIGH SCHOOL:
Participated in five sports at Lapwai High
School, including two sports at the same
time…Four-year letter-winner in volleyball
and also participated in cross country
during one of the fall seasons…Captain of
the volleyball team for three seasons…Earned
four letters in basketball as a
guard/forward…Participated on both the
softball and track teams in the spring,
earning four letters…Played in the District
II All-Star Game for volleyball and
basketball her senior year and was a 1A
second-team all-state selection in
basketball as her team won both the district
and state title…Member of state champion
4x400m relay team that set a state
record…Holds the school record in the 100m,
200m and 400m, and was part of the
record-setting 4x200m, 4x400m and medley
relay teams.
PERSONAL:
Born Feb.
2, 1991 to Josh and Dawn Leighton…Five
brothers: Preston, Garrett, Rielly, Shelby,
and Kendall, and one sister: Joslyn… Dad and
her sister both attended LCSC and she has
several relatives who were college athletes,
including uncles Johnson and Gem Leighton,
who both played basketball at LCSC…Hobbies
are sports, swimming, Wii, watching movies,
doodling, listening to music, and
eating…Earned a 3.80 GPA in high school and
finished second in regionals and third in
state in Desktop Publishing in Business
Professionals of America competition…
Majoring in Elementary Education.
