Qualified for nationals in the 400 meter
hurdles and decathlon…Placed 11th in
decathlon Won the long jump at Dusty Lane
Open on March 17 with a leap of 22-8…Set
school record in 400 hurdles at Sam Adams
Classic on March 31 with time of 54.35, over
two seconds ahead of nearest competitor…Also
11th in javelin at Sam Adams Classic…Barely
missed school record at WAR V in Spokane on
April 7, with time of 15.95 good enough for
ninth…Second overall in decathlon at Spokane
Falls CC Invite where total score was top
five nationally…Second in long jump at
Cougar Invite…Fourth in javelin at Pelluer
Invite…Eighth in pole vault at Duane Hartman
Invite (12-3.5)…Second in 400 hurdles at Tom
Gage Classic while battling hamstring
injury… Also played on the Warrior men’s
basketball team, averaging 3.1 points per
game in nine minutes per contest…Played in
27 games, all off the bench…Cracked
double-digits in scoring three times,
highlighted by a 15 point performance on
6-for-12 shooting against Walla Walla
University on Nov. 7.
COLLEGE:
Attended the
University of Washington last season where
he ran track…His outdoor season was cut
short by an injury after a productive indoor
season when he posted the No. 3 score in
school history in the heptathlon at the UW
Invitational.
HIGH
SCHOOL: Attended Stanwood High
where he participated in four sports and
earned 11 letters during his career…Earned
one letter in cross country, two as a wide
receiver in football, and four each as a
shooting guard in basketball, and as a
sprinter and jumper in track…Was captain on
his basketball team all four seasons and
captain of the track team his senior year…He
earned first-team all-league honors in
basketball his junior and senior seasons,
and was a second-team all-state selection in
basketball as a senior…Also earned
all-league honors in track as a junior and
senior, and was a second-team selection as a
wide receiver and punter his senior year.

in Renton, Wash., to Tim and Connie
Schmidt…He has two brothers, Cameron and
Conor… Cameron played baseball at Western
Washington…Also has a cousin, David
Askevold, who plays football at Pacific
Lutheran… Hobbies include video games and
wakeboarding…Is a Kinesiology major
