LEWISTON, Idaho – Lewis-Clark State College cross country coach Mike Collins has signed his first runner for the next season in Alline (Allie) Ford, a senior at Preston High School in southeastern Idaho.
Ford comes to LCSC from one of the top cross country programs in the state. Under coach Tyler Jones, Preston has finished sixth, second and first in the Idaho Class 4A meet over the past three years. During those three years, Ford has placed in the top 10 at state twice (fifth and ninth) and also was 14th.
Ford also runs for the Indians’ track team and posted state qualifying times and personal bests of 5:36 in the 1,600 and 12:07 in the 3,200 last season.
“We believe that Allie is going to continue to improve and the success she has had as in individual and as a team in high school is going to help her even more as she steps into our program,” Collins said. “We feel we have a shot at winning a national title next fall and believe that Allie will have a direct impact in our efforts to attain that goal.”
The Warrior women enjoyed their second-best finish ever at the NAIA national meet last month when they placed 14th overall. LCSC loses only one senior from that team and its top seven runners who competed at nationals will be back next season.
