Lewis-Clark State College cross country coach Mike Collins has signed two Idaho high school runners to letters of intent to run for the Warriors next fall.

Tommy Bollinger, a senior at Highland High School in Pocatello, and Conor Thompson, a senior at Kuna High, will both compete for the two-time defending Frontier Conference champion Warrior squad next fall.

Bollinger is one of the top distance runners in the Class 5A Division in Idaho. During one point of the cross country season, he was the No. 3-ranked runner among 5A athletes. Bollinger finished 14th at the state meet – the second straight year he’s finished among the top 15 – and helped the Rams to a third-place finish in the meet.

As a junior, Bollinger qualified for state in the 1,600, where he placed 12th. He has personal bests of 10:04 in the 3,200 and 4:35 in the 1,600.

Thompson split time playing soccer and running cross country at Kuna. Despite running in only a few meets, he finished 24th overall at the state Class 4A meet. In track, Thompson holds Kuna High’s fifth fastest time in the 3,200 and has a personal best time of 10:15 in the race. Collins says with Thompson concentrating only on running this next fall, he should see improvements in his performance.

“Both young men are of high quality in character, commitment to the team, commitment to academics and commitment to the community and we could not be happier that they have chosen Lewis-Clark State as the place to continue their academic and athletic careers,” Collins said.
