The Lewis-Clark State College women’s cross country program has added
Barnes signed a letter-of-intent to compete with the Warriors after a helping the Bears’ cross country team to the district title and an eighth-place finish at the Idaho State Class 4A meet last fall.
Barnes finished ninth in the district meet and was 63rd in the State meet.
“We are excited about adding Ashley to our family here,” Collins said. “She comes from a very well run high school program with coach Dean Walker. Their program is much like ours where the team concept is very important and everyone is working hard together. The transition from there to here should be easy in that regard. She has improved every year she has run throughout her high school career and we have no reason to doubt that she will continue that trend here at LCSC.
“She will be challenged and she has already acknowledged that and her willingness to overcome all challenges and be a part of our women’s team that we believe will make a run at the national title this next season. We love having the local runners stay local and are glad that Ashley has made the choice to be with us this next fall.”
Barnes is the second runner to sign with the Warrior women for next fall, joining
