Both men and women climb in NAIA polls
10/28/2009

The Lewis-Clark State College men’s cross country team moved up one spot to No. 9 in this week’s NAIA Cross Country Coaches’ Top 25 poll, while the women’s team moved up five spots to No. 11 in its poll. Both polls were released on Wednesday.

The Warrior men, who were ranked No. 10 a week ago, climbed on spot in the poll, which saw Southern Oregon overtake Malone for the top spot despite Malone receiving more first-place votes 12-9.

LCSC drew 433 points in the men’s poll and is only eight points behind No. 8 Bryan College of Tennessee, which climbed eight spots in the poll.

On the women’s side, LCSC made the second-biggest jump of the week, following Spring Arbor, which moved from No. 17 to No. 10 with 473 points. LCSC went from No. 16 to No. 11 with 447 points.

Azusa Pacific was again the unanimous pick in the women’s poll, receiving all 24 first-place votes.

The two LCSC teams are holding the Doc Sears Fun Run/Walk this Saturday, which serves as a fundraiser for the program.

The teams will be back in action on Nov. 6 in Salt Lake City for the Frontier Conference meet. LCSC is the two-time defending champion in both races.

After that meet, the NAIA national championships will be held Nov. 21 in Vancouver, Wash.
