Alyssa Rapovy, a senior at Green River High School in Henderson, Nev., has signed a letter of intent to run for the Lewis-Clark State College cross country and track programs, Warrior coach Mike Collins has announced.
Rapovy placed second in Nevada’s largest classification at the state cross country meet last fall when she covered the 5,000-meter course in 20 minutes and 17 seconds. She ran a personal best of 19:51 a week earlier in the Southern 4A Regional meet when she won the race. She also won the Sunrise Region championship.
“Alyssa comes to us highly recommended by her high school coach and we could not be more thrilled to have her,” Collins said. “She has been showing steady improvement throughout her high school career with it culminating this last fall in the Nevada State Cross Country Championships where she finished second overall in the 4A classification.”
Rapovy was selected her cross country team’s MVP both her junior and senior season and was the track team’s MVP last year as well.
“Alyssa is a bright, energetic, positive young woman with a great work ethic that would be an excellent addition to any program,” said her high school coach Blaine Thompson.
Rapovy has person best times of 18:42 in the 3-mile run, 12:15 in the 3,200, 5:37 in the 1,600 and 2:38 in the 800 meters.
The Warrior women’s cross country program as finished the season ranked in the NAIA Top 25 in each of the past 12 seasons. The women’s team has qualified for nationals in 10 of those seasons.
