Men improve to No. 19, women slide in Top 25 polls
9/22/2010

There was movement for the Lewis-Clark State College women’s and men’s cross country teams in the third NAIA Cross Country Top 25 Coaches’ Poll of the season, released Wednesday. Last week the Warriors did not move in the polls, but this week the women dropped three spots to No. 19 and the men bumped up to No. 19.

“I’m not surprised by where things are at,” LCSC coach Mike Collins said. “I expected the men to move up some and the women to move down.”

The LC men earned 274 points, swapping places with Oklahoma Baptist after trailing them by one point after last week’s poll. The women, who earned 324 points, were eclipsed by several teams, including Aquinas College and Friends University who each moved up six spots. The women’s poll also includes Frontier Conference foe Carroll College, as the Saints are slotted at No. 25.

“This is the first time for anyone in our conference to be ranked in the top 25,” Collins said. We are looking forward to seeing them in three weeks.”

The Warriors are first getting set for the Eric Anderson Memorial Invite on Saturday, Sept. 25, at Plantes Ferry Park in Spokane.

“With the meet this weekend we are going to run against a few teams that may not be NAIA but will be common opponents, so we will be able to make better comparisons and determine how good we are,” Collins said.
