LC men earn No. 18 ranking, women No. 20
9/29/2010

After placing second at the Erik Anderson Memorial Invitational last Saturday, the Lewis-Clark State College men’s cross country team improved to No. 18 in the NAIA Cross Country Top 25 Coaches’ Poll released Wednesday. While the men moved up, the women’s squad dropped one spot and is now ranked No. 20.

The top 13 teams in the men’s poll remained in their previous positions, leaving little room for the Warriors to move up despite garnering 26 more votes than last week. The team that LC did pass, Simon Fraser University, fell earlier this season to the same Whitworth team that LC defeated at the Anderson Memorial Invite on Saturday.

The women’s team, which placed fourth at the Anderson Memorial Invite, earned two points more than No. 21 Cedarville University to hang on to the No. 20 position. Frontier Conference rival Carroll College fell out of the women’s top-25 this week.

Both teams resume action this Saturday in Salem, Ore., for the Willamette Invitational.
