Oribo and Bush earn FC honors again
For the fourth time this season and for the second straight week, Lewis-Clark State College junior Jimmy Oribo has been named the Frontier Conference’s Men’s Cross Country Runner of the Week.
Oribo was honored Monday as was LCSC freshman Sophie Bush, who was the conference’s Women’s Runner of the Week. It’s the second time Bush has won the honor this season.
Oribo won the award for the third time in the last four weeks after winning the LCSC Invitational last Saturday at Hells Gate State Park in Lewiston. The Kampala, Uganda native defeated a field of 56 runners and covered the 8-kilometer course in 24 minutes and 50 seconds. His time set the course record and he became only the third runner to finish under 25 minutes on the hilly Snake River course. His nearest competitor was 30 seconds behind.
Bush, who is from Newport, Wash., finished second in the women’s race behind a runner from Spokane Falls Community College. Her time of 18:22 in the 5-kilometer race was a personal best for the third week in a row and helped the Warrior women claim the team title.
