Two members of the Lewis-Clark State College men’s cross country team and one from women’s team were honored by being named 2011 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar Athletes, the NAIA announced on Friday.
To qualify for the honor, a student-athlete must be nominated by an institution’s head coach and the student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of a 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and be at least a junior in academic standing.
Earning the honors for the Warrior men were seniors Sean Hagan of Redmond, Ore., and Dave Marks of Lake Oswego, Ore.
On the women’s side, LCSC senior Kelsey Klettke of Vancouver, Wash., earned the award.
Overall, the NAIA honored 159 male and 296 female runners.
The LCSC men, ranked No. 7 in the NAIA, and women, ranked No. 16, are both in Vancouver, Wash., to participate in the NAIA national championships on Saturday.
