Warriors add standout runner from Ireland
Pauric McLaughlin, who won three national junior track titles in Ireland, has enrolled at Lewis-Clark State College for the spring semester and will compete for the Warrior track team this spring, LCSC coach Mike Collins has announced.
McLaughlin is transferring from Oklahoma City University where he competed on the cross country team this past fall and set school records for both the 4-mile and 8-kilometer runs.
McLaughlin will be a freshman eligibility-wise for the Warrior track team and a sophomore on the cross country team next fall.
“He should step in well to our program and will likely play an important role in our efforts to win a national title next fall in cross country,” Collins said.
McLaughlin has personal bests of 3:57 in the 1,500; 8:43 in the 3,000; 15:00 in the 5,000, and 6:10 in the 2K steeplechase.
A native of Letterkenny, Ireland, McLaughlin won the 1,500 indoor and two steeplechase titles in the Ireland national junior meet. He also had finishes of sixth, seventh and ninth in the national cross country meet and his high school won the national team cross country title.
