Warrior cross country signs two recruits; track adds one
The Lewis-Clark State College women's cross country program has signed two runners from the state of Washington for next season, while the LC track team will add a thrower from Idaho, Warrior cross country and track coach Mike Collins has announced.
Shelby Beaudoin of Vancouver, Wash., and Kayleigh McCoy of Orting, Wash., will both run for the Warriors next season, while Mallory Nelson of Idaho City, Idaho, will throw the shot put and discus.
Beaudoin is currently at Clark College, a two-year school in Vancouver. She attended the same high school as current Warrior All-American Kelsey Klettke. As a distance runner, she posted a personal best of 19 minutes and 30 seconds during her freshman year in the 5 kilometers.
"She should step in right away and help improve the depth of our team next year," Collins said.
While Beaudoin will be a junior next season, McCoy will be a freshmen. She currently attends Orting High and ran both cross country and track there. In cross country, she competed at State all four seasons and finished 15th, 5th, 6th, and 9th, respectively.
In track, as a junior she placed sixth in the 3,200 at State, and was eighth in the 1,600.
Nelson attends Idaho City High and will be a freshman next fall. As a junior at the Idaho State Track Meet, she finished second in the discus and fourth in the shot put at the 1A level.
"We are excited to have all three of these girls come into our program here," Collins said. "We believe that we are a good fit for them when it comes to their academic and athletic goals."
