Marks and Klettke earn POW honors
9/4/2012

LCSC's Kelsey KlettkeLewis-Clark State College runners Dave Marks and Kelsey Klettke were named the Frontier Conference men’s and women’s cross country runners of the week, league officials announced on Monday.

Marks, a senior from Lake Oswego, Ore., earns the award after cruising to the individual title at the Whitman Invite last week. His 8-kilometer time of 25:55.85 was more than a minute ahead of the nearest competitor. The Warrior men, ranked No. 2 in the NAIA, ended up winning the three-team meet by a large margin.

Klettke (pictured left), a senior from Vancouver, Wash., claimed the individual title on the women’s side and helped the No. 8 Warriors to a second-place finish. She ran the 6k course in 23:56.50. This was her first race since finishing 10th at nationals in 2010.

Both Marks and Klettke were All-Americans in 2010 and are coming off of injuries from last year. Marks suffered a broken calcaneus (heel bone) prior to last season and was slowed because of it throughout the year, and Klettke missed the entire season because of calf/hamstring issues.

The Warriors next official meet will be the Eric Anderson Invite in Spokane on Sept. 22.
