LCSC men move to 4th, women 8th in NAIA polls
9/12/2012

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Lewis-Clark State men’s cross country team dropped two spots to fourth in the NAIA Coaches’ Top 25 poll, released Wednesday by the national office, while the Warrior women held steady at No. 8 in the rankings.

Southern Oregon’s men received 19 of the 21 first-place votes among NAIA coaches in the first regular-season poll of the season and Cal-State San Marcos was a unanimous choice for the top spot in the women’s poll.

LCSC’s men’s squad, which garnered 541 points, achieved its highest ranking ever with a No. 2 slot in the preseason poll, but dropped behind Cal-State San Marcos and Oklahoma Baptist despite winning the Whitman Invitational on Sept. 1 to begin its season.

The Warrior women, which received 436 points, finished second at Whitman behind the host Missionaries, an NCAA Division III program, but LCSC’s Kelsey Klettke was the individual champion.

Both cross country programs will next be in action at the Eric Anderson Invite in Spokane, Wash. on Sept. 22.
