Dave Marks of the sixth-ranked Lewis-Clark State men's cross country team captured the Frontier Conference's Men's Runner of the Week award Monday on the heels of his third place finish at Saturday's Erik Anderson Invitational in Spokane, Wash.
Marks, a senior from Lake Oswego, Ore., completed the five-mile course in 24 minutes, 42 seconds and was the top finisher among Frontier Conference runners at the meet.
"Dave ran well on Saturday, and he was motivated for the meet," Warrior cross country coach Mike Collins said. "He's in good shape and he did his homework last week, so it's nice to see him get the recognition."
Marks and the Warriors are hoping to carry the success over to this Saturday's Willamette Invitiational, one of the highlights of the team's regular-season schedule.
"I'm sure Dave is happy with this accolade, but I bet he'd be happier if he gets Runner of the Week after this weekend," Collins said.
