Allen Balmer had three of Lewis-Clark
State's 15 hits and drove in three runs, two
on his second homer of the year, as the
Warriors throttled Westmont 18-7 on
Wednesday afternoon at Harris Field. In
finishing the three-game sweep of Westmont,
L-C collected its seventh consecutive
victory while moving to 18-3 on the season.
Westmont, which hails from Santa Barbara,
Calif., lost its 14th straight and falls to
4-20. Balmer, the Warriors' principal third
baseman, is nursing a sore knee and was used
at designated hitter Wednesday. His second
home run of the season, to right field,
keyed L-C's four-run fourth inning.
Jessie Roehl homered later in the fourth;
the solo shot to center was his first of the
year.
Jessie Mier added two hits and as many
RBI for L-C, which scored three times in the
second and sixth innings while tacking on
five in the seventh.
Westmont scored six runs n the fourth
inning, during which it picked up six of its
nine hits.
L-C sent six pitchers to the mound. The
third, Dustin Willis, was awarded the
victory for a 13---inning stint, during
which he allowed one hit and an unearned run
while striking out two. Warrior pitchers
combined for 12 strikeouts.
After a five-day break, L-C will head to
Vancouver for its first road trip of the
season. The Warriors will play British
Columbia in single games Tuesday and
Wednesday. |
