Player of the Week honor
05-06-08
Lewis-Clark
State College senior Ikaika
Lester has been named the
Region I Baseball Player of
the Week for his performance
in three games against the
Oregon Institute of
Technology.
Lester, a 6-foot-2,
215-pound first
baseman/designated hitter
from Kaunakakai, Hawaii,
went 4-for-9 in the three
games with two home runs,
six RBI and four runs
scored. He had a .444
batting average and a 1.222
slugging percentage.
Lester provided the
late-game heroics in the
first game of a doubleheader
last Saturday when his solo
home run with one out in the
bottom of the eighth inning
gave the Warriors a 2-1
victory in the scheduled
seven-inning contest. Lester
followed that walk-off home
run with a three-run shot in
the second game when he went
3-for-3 with three runs
scored and five RBI. He also
had a double in that
contest.
Lester is now eligible for
NAIA national Player of the
Week honors, which will be
announced on Wednesday.
